The amendments

suggested are:-

(i) In the last sentence but one,

for the words "to confine grants in

future to British insured concerns",

substitute "that for the future they

would only recognise, for the purposes

of grants, insurance with British

Companies". The original wording

suggests that the decision referred

to insurancesto be effected in

connection with further grants from

the Trade Loan Fund. Paragraph 3

of Hong Kong despatch of the 3rd of

July, in which the Officer Administering

the Government reported the facts as

to the insurance, is not entirely

clear but it is understood to mean that

the decision referred to proposals

to effect new insuranceswith American

Companies in connection with the

existing grants from the Fund
